We have been secretly following Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie since we first started this trip. It began when we visited the Ana Mandara resort in Vietnam for drinks. Despite spending an afternoon at the resort where they stayed the previous times they were in Vietnam, we failed to spot them; apparently, they left town right before we arrived! We knew that fate would allow our paths to cross again once we heard that they were going to be in Prague filming Angelina's new film, Wanted.
Unfortunately, it's been 4 days in Prague and there's still been no sign of either one. We've seen pics of them going to the Prague Zoo, coming out of restaurants, picking the kids up from school... but we still haven't caught a whiff. Don't they know that we could get our membership in the LA Chapter of the Celebrity Sighting Club revoked if we don't find them?
We thought there might be a good chance they'd do something swanky like take in a classical music performance. With that thought in mind, we went to the Obecni Dum, the Prague Municipal House, to book our tickets to see the Prague Royal Symphony Orchestra's sole performance for this week. Maybe the problem is that Brangelina aren't interested in meeting up with people who dress like crap, because while he was selling us our tickets, the box office rep assured us that we would not need to wear nice clothes to the show. He repeatedly stressed that we could watch the performance dressed as we were, if we wanted to. Hmmm...
The performance was great (although Brangelina never showed up). The orchestra played in Smetana Hall, the main concert hall of the Municpal House, and they performed the following:
- B. Smetana: My Country Vltava
- A. Dvorak: Symphony No. 9 E-Minor, Opus 95 (you'd know it if you heard it)
Coming out of the show, Web informed me that in order to truly experience a quality evening at the orchestra, it is critical to adopt a British accent on the way out and start proclaiming to everone within earshot how "This evening's performance was lovely, yes, quite nice. Simply splendid if you ask me." He seemed to get quite a kick out of doing this for about 10 minutes. Sometimes I just don't get his humor.
