Dining with Locals, Prague

On our first night in Prague, we decided to do what we always do. We hit up a local joint near our apartment, outside of the city center and away from the touristy spots, and ordered up some of what the other locals were eating. Everyone seemed to be eating the Bramborove Kredliky Puere with Zenym Masem s Domacim Yelim... potato dumplings with bacon and cabbage.

Here's what it looked like...

The taste? The potato skin was very thick with a rubbery texture, while the insides were not really to our liking, lots of potato and little bacon! After this meal and after taking a peek at some of the other dishes the locals were eating, we decided against eating too much local food.

Luckily, we saw a peculiarly large number of pizza joints and Italian restaurants all over the city. It won't be Il Latini, but based on what we ate our first evening, it will have to do!

Which would you rather be eating?

Addendum: We ate at Italian restaurants for our next 4 dinners in Prague. Pizza and pasta... can't beat it! Surprisingly, the Italian food in Prague is really good!
