When in Thailand...

... do as the Spanish do? ... or the Italians? Yesterday, Jaime and I needed a break from spicy, well-seasoned Thai cuisine and decided to do Spanish tapas for lunch, and Italian Pizza for dinner (Naples-style... the proprietor moved from Naples to Bangkok and set up shop on the main drag, Sukhumvit Street). The tapas from Tapas Cafe were amazingly delicious, and the pizza from Bella Napoli wasn't LA worthy, much less NY or Naples worthy. Yuck. On a funny note, when we were looking for the Tapas Cafe, we got lost and started walking into places asking for help... there were numerous exchanges which went like this...

Web: "Um... Tapas Cafe"
Nice Thai lady: "Stah bucks?"
Web: "Ta-pas?"
Nice Thai lady and the friends she brings over to help the idiot tourist: "Ah... Stah-bucks!" followed by some wild pointing down the street.

Web: "Tapas Cafe?"
Tuk tuk driver: {points in the direction that we're currently walking}
Web: {gives thumbs up}
Tuk tuk driver: {Drives past us up the street and points to a location}
Web and Jaime: {Look in the direction and see absolutely nothing!}

The people here are incredibly nice and want to help, but little to no English is spoken here so you have no choice but to figure things out on your own.

It's now Saturday, and we are spending the last few minutes in Bangkok waiting for our overnight train to Chiang Mai. That should be quite an adventure.
