A Chiang Mai Funny

The following exchange takes place at another, more "expensive" restaurant:

Waiter: "Where you from?"
Jaime/Web: "California, US."
Waiter: "No... where you from?"
Jaime/Web: "Ah... China/Taiwan."
Waiter: "Ah... you, me... we the same. We all the same... Asian peoples."

We wanted to ask the friendly waiter guy why we keep getting charged the foreigner rates if we're "the same"!!!
